* Larijani in Syria Damascus

Iran's leadership envoy Ali Larijani arrived here late Thursday for a meeting with senior Syrian officials.

An informed source told IRNA, Larijani, who represents Iranian Leader in the Supreme National Security Council, will during his four-day visit meet Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Vice-President Faruq al-Shara and Foreign Minister Walid Moualem.

He is also to visit the historical cities of Halab and Raqe.

Larijani comes to Syria on the second leg of his tour, which already took him to Egypt, where he met and conferred with Egyptian cultural and religious personalities, including Foreign Minister Ahmed Abulgheit.
