The one who should and will be soon trialed by the Syrian
people is Syria’s dictator Bachar al-Assad

Commenting on
reports published by some news agency regarding the
accusations formulated by an investigation judge in Damascus
against the former Vice-President of the Syrian Arab
Republic Abdel Halim Khaddam, charging him with a string of
crimes, including inciting a foreign attack on the country
and plotting to seize power, and which carries a possible
sentence of life imprisonment with hard labor, the press
office of Mr. Abdel Halim Khaddam issued the following
statement:
1. Mr. Abdel
Halim Khaddam was not surprised by these charges especially
that the Syrian judiciary has become a part of the tools
used by the security system in the practice of oppression
and tyranny. It is also conspicuous that the sentence did
not name the State that was allegedly incited by Mr. Khaddam
to attack Syria.
2. The one who
should and will be soon trialed by the Syrian population is
Syria’s dictator Bachar al-Assad who committed the following
crimes all assimilated to high treason:
A- Oppressing
and impoverishing the Syrian people, violating their
freedoms and liberties, spreading corruption, dismantling
the national unity and therefore weakening the Syrian
State’s ability to preserve its lands, airspace and coasts.
B- Weakening
the Syrian military forces through destabilizing its
structures, morals and equipments and therefore threatening
its ability to take on its national duties.
C- Giving
instructions to the Syrian air and defense forces not to
attack any Israeli or non Israeli airplanes and therefore
allowing the latters to violate the Syrian airspace at any
time. And the attack on Deir Zour was not the first since
Bachar al-Assad has decided to adopt the policy of
obscuration in order to hide the defect his strategies have
generated in the State’s structure.
D- Firing
several pilots and air engineers for reasons that have
nothing to do with their job obligations.
E- Committing
several terrorist crimes in Lebanon and therefore
threatening the relations of brotherhood Syria has with this
country, in addition to all crimes committed against the
Iraqi people. Terrorism has always been one of the regime’s
main tools, and according to several news agencies, the
explosion that happened two months ago in the region of
Mouslimiya in Aleppo was not caused by heat, as Bachar
al-Assad assumed, but was the result of an air strike that
attacked the location at 5 in the morning.
F- Weakening
Syria is part of Bachar al-Assad’s plan that aims at gaining
the Israeli support. And the Israeli Prime minister’s recent
declarations reveal the nature of the relations between
Bachar al-Assad and Israel since Olmert openly said he
respects the Syrian President and approves his policies.
The Syrian
population will soon call to account this tyrannical ruling
authority that has violated its liberties and dignity will
also intensifying its sufferance and jeopardizing its
national security.
